This week, I introduce you to our fifth and final PowerType™: The Sorceress™. Now, I know that for some of you, the name might cause you to raise your eyebrows or even scoff. I grew up in conservative religious circles and I’m fully aware of some of the assumed meaning behind this word. So I’d like to set to record straight, so that you know we are on the same page regardless of your spiritual beliefs.
At One of Many ® , we use a shortened word in order to refer to the collective of beliefs represented in our diverse society: ‘source.’ Source is that higher power that connects us to the universe. Some people identify as part of an established religion and call that God, Allah, Buddha, Goddess, Mother Nature, etc. Others do not have a specific spiritual belief but instead think of science such as quantum physics to explain how our world works. We know that the universe is vast and beyond our comprehension as tiny humans, and also that we are all connected. There are things that happen which we can’t always explain, which some view as miraculous. So whatever that belief is for you, we shorten the word to ‘source’ to encompass all belief systems. The Sorceress is the PowerType™ which is most connected to ‘source’ and we simply spell it in the usual way, because ‘source-ress’ just looks strange.

Our inner Sorceress is connected to a higher power, knowing that magic and miracles happen in the every day. She understands and works with the bridge between the seen and the unseen. The Sorceress™ is also highly innovative and facilitates transformation. She is naturally curious, searching for wisdom, knowledge and information. She is the master of her chosen technologies, whether that is public speaking, art, music, cooking, mechanics, etc. The Sorceress™ enjoys her own company and her daily life includes ritual and routine.
If you’ve ever had a crisis of faith after being raised within a certain belief system, it might feel difficult to begin to re-connect with your inner Sorceress. But she’s there when you’re ready. You don’t have to have all the answers in order to step into this PowerType™.

The Sorceress™ leads her team through wisdom and faith. She has a sort of ‘everything is possible’ mindset, and as a result, her team admires her ability to see solutions or come up with new ideas. She always has the right piece of knowledge and how to apply it to a given situation. Because of her deep understanding, her team will follow her sage advice and defer to her wisdom. The Sorceress™ is also great at working with the energies between team members, knowing that the energy and interaction between group members impacts the overall outcome for the whole team.
Further characteristics of the Sorceress™:
· Connected (to source, to people, to herself)
· Vessel of source
· Wise and crafty
· Manifestor
· Magic and miracles
· Self-contained (independent)
· Discerning
· Knows she is supported and provided for
· Spiritual, connected to the other
· Conduit between heaven and earth
· Ethereal
· Has secret knowledge
· Healer
· Brings a little bit of fairy dust

The Sorceress™ inspires faith, belief, trust, awe and wonder in others. People go to her for her creative abilities, transformation, healing, wisdom and confidence. Each of us has our area of expertise, and this is where our inner Sorceress tends to shine. Think of it as those tasks or skills which come so naturally, or intuition which arrives so readily, that it’s almost like magic. I tend to picture the Sorceress as an older, wise woman who lives on her own in a cottage in the woods. She’s surrounded by the healing herbs she grows herself and people go to her for healing when they are ill. The visualisation for you might be different, but the key is that it’s all about your inner knowing and intuition. If you have a specific religious belief, your Sorceress is that part of you most connected to this, perhaps through your prayer and meditation practice.
Like all of the PowerTypes™, we can find ourselves out of balance with too much or too little Sorceress™ in our lives. The over-expressed Sorceress™ can appear to be ‘away with the fairies’ with no grounding in reality. She might deliberately hold back wisdom in order to feed her pride or her purse. She might manipulate others for her own gain. Sometimes cynical and detached from life, she may observe but not participate.
On the other side of this, the under-expressed Sorceress™ experiences life as very hard. She has no faith in unseen helping hands, and she feels she must achieve everything through sheer grit, determination and common sense. She is unable to enjoy the magic and miracles of life. She might like the promise of the spiritual, but wants to get there without all the meditation or reflection work.
There are some useful exercises to help us connect to Sorceress™, and increase our access to her.
1. Rituals and Rhythm
We all need rhythm, ritual and routine to create certainty, confidence and centeredness to our daily lives. You may have several small rituals that you already do which you are simply not aware of. It could be your morning coffee and news reading, your mid-morning tea or your Saturday yoga. It can even be things like taking your shoes (and bra!) off after coming home from work before doing anything else. So this activity is to look at your daily routine for those little rituals. What are your habits? Are they special, fruitful and bringing you much-needed outlets for emotion? Are they filling you with confidence and positive expectation for your life? Or are they sapping your energy (read: endless phone scrolling before bed!) and maintaining negative states of mind? Look over your week, month and year and decide what needs to go, what you might be able to replace and where you can add some ‘magic’ to your daily life.

2. Put your ‘order’ into the universe
The Sorceress™ has the ability to assert her will and make things manifest, even if we don’t know quite how she does it. So try it by speaking it aloud. It could be something really small like ‘I really need a parking space’ or ‘where did I put that scarf?’ or something more complex like ‘how do I solve this problem with my neighbour easily?’ Ask in many small ways, and notice how Source shows up to assist you in a hundred ways every day.

3. Thinking and Thanking
This is one of our key Habits of Connection which we recommend to all of our coaching clients. It’s really simple and best done at the very end of your day, such as when you’re getting ready to fall asleep. Review your day and notice what ‘coincidences’ occurred, such as getting a parking space exactly when you needed it, or meeting someone new who has an area of expertise you were just hoping to explore. Focus on the gratitude for these coincidences and then reflect on anything else you’re grateful for. Finally, ask the universe for more. This process will help you to start to trust life and notice the miracles that you’re given every day.

4. Special Place
Look around your home and notice if you have a special place that is just for you. Creating an altar for your personal growth is a powerful way to create space and ritual in your life. It might be a spot on your bookshelf or windowsill, or a spot near where you do your morning writing where you can light a candle, keep inspiring quotes, plants, photos or anything that inspires you and calls you forward. Make a little time to spend every day there. Mine is my bedside table where I keep my Himalayan salt lamp, a mini zen garden and some mindfulness cards.

So how can connecting with our inner knowing, our Sorceress PowerType™, help us to step into the leadership that is so desperately needed in these challenging times?
1. Re-explore your vision for your life. If you remember from my posts about the Queen and Warrioress PowerTypes™, the Queen orders the vision and the Warrioress carries it out through individual actions or tasks. However, the full process actually starts with the Sorceress. So take some time to use your mindfulness practice to get into a relaxed state. Once you do this, ask yourself where you would like go in your life. What would your dream day look like? Where are you living, who is part of your life, what does your work life look like? Begin to imagine this and be open to your intuition. Perhaps your calling has shifted following the pandemic, or perhaps it feels more relevant than ever. Either way, it’s worth reflecting on.
2. Never underestimate the power of a daily gratitude practice and mindfulness. These exercises are fantastic for your mind, body and soul. If you don’t already have something in place, discover what could work for you. With the UK in another lockdown complete with schools being closed, being cooped up again is such an important reminder of how much we need to look after ourselves in this way.
3. Once you try some of the practices, start to think about who in your life you might consider collaborating with in order to achieve your vision for the future. Your reflection might lead you to some connections which you may have previously overlooked.
Now that I have introduced you to all five PowerTypes™, I hope that you are beginning to see just how powerfully they work together to help us shift into the mindset and intentions we can have for our future. They can also help us to work our way out of previously bad habits. I’m really curious to hear what you think so far, and what you have learned after trying some of the different activities I’ve invited you to try.
Love,

Christine El Issa
